Converted Paper Product Applications

We Know Converted Paper Products
Household towels, bathroom tissue, industrial hard wound roll and folded towels, napkins, fem-care products, diapers, note pads, greeting cards, gift wrap, wax paper, lunch bags, paper plates and cups, coffee filters, baby wipes, fabric softener sheets, dusting sheets, reams of paper, and adding machine tape are just some of the converted paper products packaged by SWF Companies. Needless to say, we know converted paper!

In June of 2000, SWF acquired Salwasser Manufacturing Co., Inc., a leading manufacturer of integrated case packaging equipment of more than 50 years. For almost 40 years, Salwasser
developed case packing systems and related equipment for converted paper products, including its first semi-automatic case packer for cartons of facial tissue in 1963 and its first fully automatic case packer in 1968 for rolls of household towels. Salwasser also pioneered the
application of servo technology, as well as ergonomic methods of
automatically feeding complete bundles of knock-down cases to its equipment. In response to the industry’s need for greater versatility, Salwasser was also the first to offer case packers with integral, full case load orientation
mechanisms, the ability to handle standard RSC cases and trays on a single machine and a leader in
the incorporation of robotics and pick-and-place technology. All told, Salwasser delivered over 2,000 pieces of equipment (equating to almost 800 integrated case packing systems) to converted paper product manufacturers around the world and now with SWF, that number continues to grow.

Furthermore, with operating speeds up to 30 cases per minute, Salwasser delivered machine designs capable of throughput rates never before achieved in the industry, including the ability to open, load and seal large paper towel cases at speeds up to 22 cases per minute. These speed capabilities, coupled with unique product handling features (converging, diverging, accumulating and positioning) make SWF’s case packing systems ideal for today’s converted paper applications.

Through the acquisition of
Salwasser and other leading packaging machinery companies, SWF is able to provide a variety of primary, secondary and robotic packaging solutions, including an extensive array of horizontal / vertical cartoners, case / tray erectors and case sealers. These systems, along with our traditional and robotic packing capabilities, enable SWF Companies to be a “one stop shop” for most converted paper packaging needs.
