System
Operation
As the tray/case enters the machine, it moves onto a powered chain elevator
which lifts it up through the forming and sealing stations. In sequence
with the moving tray/case a lid blank is pulled from the hopper by vacuum
cups and moved into position over the tray or case The tray/case and
lid blank come together at right angles so that the hot melt glue can
be applied to two sides of the lid and two sides of the tray/case. The
lid is then formed by the compression shoes and the glue is set. The
forming station of the VL 480 makes use of the filled tray/case as the
forming mandrel. The compression shoes then release the sealed case
and it is moved to the discharge area.
